This is an information of the shareholders of German Seed Alliance GmbH for the attention of GSA partners, customers, other interested parties and GSA staff concerning a management change. On the request of Dr. Ferdinand Schmitz, long-standing managing director of German Seed Alliance, both parties have agreed on a structural change in their co-operation that will take effect as of 1 January 2019.

After completing the strategic and organizational development of GSA, Dr. Schmitz intends to refocus his professional activities and re-enter as partner into the consulting company FUCHS&PARTNER Unternehmensstrategien in Stuttgart. The GSA shareholders are pleased that Dr. Schmitz will continue to take care of the GSA activities in Russia in his function as managing director of German Seed Alliance, alongside his consulting activities.

Dr. Ferdinand Schmitz has substantially contributed to the foundation, establishment and development of GSA. It can be largely attributed to his efforts that GSA is now a competitive company and strong partnership of the medium-sized plant breeding companies Deutsche Saatveredelung AG (DSV), Norddeutsche Pflanzenzucht Hans-Georg-Lembke KG (NPZ), Nordsaat Saatzucht GmbH (Nordsaat) and the SaKa/Solana Group (SaKa). The objective of GSA is to intensify the co-operation of the shareholding companies in certain fields, ranging from research to breeding and marketing and sales, as well as to develop joint business activities.

In the Russian Federation, German Seed Alliance has set up a joint distribution company for plant varieties of DSV, Rapool, Saaten Union and Solana and is now marketing their plant varieties in Russia and other countries. For several years now, GSA has been running breeding programmes to develop varieties in Russia for the Russian market. The most recent development was the inauguration of a new central breeding facility in Russia in July 2018.

Dr. Gunhild Leckband for research and Ms Anne-Katrin Steinborn for finances and organisation will assist the managing director as authorised officers of German Seed Alliance.

The shareholders express their gratitude to Dr. Ferdinand Schmitz for the entrepreneurial initiative with which he developed and implemented future-oriented strategies to secure the future development of the shareholding companies, as well as for the trust and cooperation with the company owners, the management and the staff. The shareholders wish Dr. Ferdinand Schmitz the best of success in his consulting activities for FUCHS&PARTNER Unternehmensstrategien.
